This guide explains how to enable recurring PayPal payments via Stripe, using Stripe Elements or Stripe Checkout for accounts registered in the EU, UK, or Cyprus.
🛠️ Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Go to the Payment Methods Settings
- Open your browser and navigate to:
2. Enable PayPal
- Scroll down to the Wallets section.
- Find PayPal and click Turn On.
- You’ll be redirected to PayPal to sign in or create a PayPal Business account.
- Follow the steps to link your PayPal Business account to Stripe.
Your PayPal account is required for processing — Stripe does not receive the funds for PayPal payments.
3. Enable Recurring Payments
- After PayPal is enabled, go back to the same page:
👉 https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payment_methods - Under PayPal settings, find the line that says:
“Recurring payments are disabled” or “Recurring payments are not yet enabled.” - Click the "Enable" button next to it.
- A request will be sent to Stripe’s team for manual review.
⏳ Stripe will review and approve your request within 2–5 business days.
🧪 Additional Tips
- Use live PayPal accounts to test — sandbox is not supported.
- Contact Stripe Support if you don’t see the “Enable Recurring Payments” option.
